Midget AAA Trappers stomp 87's to end the regular season

Monday, February 04, 2013   by: Chris DawsonSteven Leveque and Tyler Peters carried one hefty offensive punch on Sunday to help the Trappers salvage 2 points on a disappointing end to a 3-game road trip, which also marked the end of the regular season.

Leveque scored 4 times and added 3 assists while Tyler Peters had 2 goals and 4 assists as the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers stomped the Kirkland Lake Legion 87's 13-5 to end a 3-game northern road trip for the local Great North Midget League team.

Nathaniel McLeod added a pair in the rout, while singles went to Eric Champagne, Adrien Guenette, Jake Staples, Matthew Buckley and Matthew Peterson-Galema.

Jordan Wilson led the 87's with 2 goals in the one-sided Trappers win.

Flyers double Trappers

On Saturday, Leo Lightning scored 3 times and North Bay Jr. Trappers affiliate Olivier Chabot scored twice to lead the Kapuskasing Flyers to a 8-4 win over the Trappers.

Tyler Kennedy, Steven Leveque, Tyler Peters and Eric Champagne scored for the Trappers in the road loss.

Majors dump Trappers

The road swing didn't start well as the Trappers dropped their opener 9-4 on Friday to the Timmins Majors.

Tyler Romain and Nick Oreskovich had two goals each for Timmins.

The loss spoiled a 3-goal performance for Steven Leveque.

Adrien Guenette scored the other goal in Friday's loss.

Playoffs set

The road trip marks the end of the regular season as the Midget AAA Trappers finish in 6th position in the Great North Midget League season with a 14-19-0-0-1 record.

They face the 3rd place Kapuskasing Flyers in the opening round of the Great North Midget League playoffs starting next Saturday, February 9th in Kapuskasing.
