North Stars battle with the Police

Wednesday, January 23, 2013   by: Chris Dawson

It was an exciting afternoon at Pete Palangio Arena on Sunday as the North Bay police strapped on their skates for the sixth year to play the North Bay North Stars special needs hockey teams.

The North Stars love their games and with all the other teams in the league situated in the GTA it is great to have local teams come out for some fun and game experience.

“The team has been on the ice for six years and the police have never missed an opportunity to come out and play and it is great to have the support of community groups,” said manager Sharon Fung.

The police played hard even borrowing a few players to round out their roster.

It was a hard fought battle with both games ending in a tie.

The team is gearing up for the annual Special Hockey International tournament in Kitchener, March 14-17.
