IROQUOIS FALLS, ON - The North Bay Jr. A Trappers scored 2 goals in the third period but it wasn't enough as they drop a 3-2 decision to the Abitibi Eskimos on Saturday night at the Jus Jordan arena.

Jamie Olivier had 1 goal and 1 assist for the Trappers who fall to 7-8-1 on the season. JP Kascsak had the other goal.

The struggling Jr. A squad fell behind 3-0 to the Eastern Conference basement dwelling Abitibi Eskimos in the first period on goals by Joel Roy, Michael Fink and Justin Lafleur.

“We battled back but we still have to learn to be harder and we have to get harder and hard on the puck all the time,” stated Jr. A Trappers head coach and general manager Ian Swalucynski.

The Trappers used forwards Darnell Koosees and Scott Pawson on defence due to the suspension to Stephane Houle and injuries to Cory Sellers and Colton Allan.

Things don't get any easier for the Trappers who host the Soo Thunderbirds next Friday night at Memorial Gardens.

The Thunderbirds currently lead the league with an impressive 14-2-1 record.

Game Notes

The Trappers dressed affiliate forward Maxim Lamontagne from the Kapuskasing Flyers and Midget AAA Trappers goaltender Mitchell Knight backed up Mathieu Laberge who stopped 18 shots in the loss.

Swalucynski was busy on the phone en route to Iroquois Falls as he acquired a pair of big bodies Saturday.

Defenceman Brenden Giffel (6'0", 190 lbs.) was acquired for future considerations from Blind River and 6'4", 204 pound forward/defenceman Brennan Wright from Yarmouth of the Maritime Jr. A League was picked up for futures as well.
