The Nipissing Lakers Varsity Hockey Club will have a new voice for the 2010/11 season with the addition of former National Hockey League player Greg Theberge to Cogeco’s broadcasting team. Theberge will provide colour commentary alongside play-by-play announcer Ranjan Rupal.

“I am thrilled that Greg has signed on as the colour commentator for the Lakers,” said Ranjan Rupal. “As a former professional hockey player, Greg has extensive knowledge about the game that will enhance the quality of the broadcast for viewers at home."

Theberge is excited to work with TVCogeco and the Nipissing Lakers organization.

“I look forward to the challenge of keeping up with the fast pace and exciting brand of hockey that the OUA has to offer,” he said.

All of the Lakers home games are covered live by Cogeco television. With the Lakers strong following, Cogeco has added a specialized Lakers show to their new line-up. The Lakers Show will provide fans with an opportunity to get know the players on a more intimate level. The show is set to air on Cogeco beginning in late September.

The Nipissing Lakers Hockey Team had very successful inaugural season. The Lakers were third in the country for fan attendance, ranked nationally for two consecutive weeks and made the playoffs.
