Royals lose to T-Birds to finish up a rough road trip By Chris Dawson BayToday.ca Monday, November 30, 2009 SAULT STE. MARIE, ON - The Temiscaming Royals came home Sunday night licking their wounds as the Soo Thunderbirds gave the Royals their third loss in three nights with a 6-4 victory Sunday night at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Royals were looking to rebound after dropping a 4-1 decision to the Eagles on Friday and 6-4 to the Beavers in Blind River on Saturday night.
However, the T-Birds scored 4 times in the second period to take a 6-1 lead which spelled the end of the night for Royals goalie Jim Murray who was replaced by Francis Bernard.
The Royals battled back with 3 unanswered goals to make it interesting but the comeback fell short.
Mike Robertson, Justin Kohler, Andre Leclair and Josh Blacksmith scored in the loss as the Royals fall to 9-15-1 on the season.
The Royals next action is Friday night when they begin an home and home with the North Bay Jr. Trappers. Game time on Friday is 8 p.m. at the Centre, and then Sunday night the two rivals clash at Memorial Gardens for a 7 p.m. start.
