Midget Trappers come up short vs. Sons

CHELMSFORD, ON. - Alex Battistelli scored a power play goal in the final minute of the third period which was the difference as the Nickel City Sons hung on for a 4-3 win over the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers here on Tuesday night.

Scott Pawson scored twice for the Trappers including the equalizer to make it 3-3 around the midway point of the third period. Dylan Staples had the other goal set up by Pawson.

Midget Trappers head coach John Couch was pleased with his team's competitiveness but still frustrated with giveaways in the defensive zone.

"Our guys competed hard and never gave up, we are right there with the top teams; two close ones," Couch said eluding to the loss Tuesday and the close 2-1 defeat to the Nickel Capital Wolves on Sunday.

"We have had call ups from the U16 team and they did not hurt us they were in the game and played well Trevor is obviously doing a good job with his boys."

Couch felt goaltender Tanner Davis kept his team in the game.

"Tanner Davis was our hard hat winner making all the saves we could expect him to make," said Couch.

"This kid proves his worth every night he plays I hope we can put a win together for him."

The Trappers will continue on the road next weekend with a game on Friday, December 4th in New Liskeard against the Cubs and then on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 6th) they take on the Kirkland Lake Legion 87's in Kirkland Lake.
