Multi-vehicle collision on Highway 17

On February 25, 2015 at approximately 9:20 a.m., North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multi vehicle collision on Highway 17, Bonfield Township.

A westbound pick-up truck on Highway 17 was slowing down to turn when a westbound sports utility vehicle made contact with the pick-up truck and then entered the eastbound lane striking a van. This caused a change reaction as the van hit an eastbound commercial motor vehicle and an eastbound tow truck collided with the van.

The two occupants of the van and driver of the sports utility vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital by North Bay Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The driver of the sports utility vehicle, Lise DUPUIS, age 55, of Mattawa was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
