Greno, Barry

Posted

Barry Greno (age 57) or “Bear” as many of his good friends would know him, took his last walk in the woods last week and when he quietly passed away due to natural causes at his home.  He will be remembered fondly by his older brother Robert and sister Brenda McKenzie of British Columbia, as a person who enjoyed time spent in nature and among animals. This was especially true of his faithful adopted dog and best buddy, Doucette who was always so excited to see him and never failed to accompany him on a walk, no matter how cold or how deep the snow.  She accompanied him daily until she too passed away just last year. For many years Barry worked as a steel worker in construction, moving from project to project throughout Southern Ontario.  He returned to his hometown in North Bay to home care his mother Marion who later moved to reside in Castlehome.  For those that knew him, Barry seemed to find a new passion for the outdoors, visiting with friends out at the lake and biking during the summer.  In the winter he would strap on his snowshoes and walk for hours or renew his passion for downhill skiing.  Even though he lived in town his thoughts were always to one day move out to the rural area where he could live in simplicity and enjoy the quietness of the environment. Barry’s time with us was too short and he never did get around to re-visiting his bother and sister out west.  He will be remembered for his stanch pride of being a Canadian and person you could always count on to give you his opinion on matters ranging from what the politicians where not doing, crazy drivers in the city to the quality of service at Tim Hortins. Our love is with you Barry;  happy trails till we meet again…..
