Joseph Clément Aurèle Filiatrault - (1919 – 2015) The family announces with sorrow his death in North Bay, on July 14 , 2015 at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Rita Filiatrault for 63 years, he was the son of the late Hervé and the late Sophie Filiatrault. Cherished father of Louise Desramaux (Robert) of Ottawa, Pierre Filiatrault (Ginette) of Casselman, Monique Hamilton (Hal) of Ottawa, and Nicole Filiatrault of Toronto. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Joelle Berthiaume (Jean-René), Julie Van Halderen (Wouter), and Eric Giddings (Nitla Zamora Cooke). He lives on in his great grandchildren Mathis Berthiaume and Annabelle Van Halderen. Dear brother of Pierre, Armande, and Elizabeth (Ethier); predeceased by his brothers and sisters Marthe (Paquette), Clément, Théophile, Françoise (Guindon), Maurice, Hélène, Huguette, and Gilles.
In addition to a busy family and work life, Aurèle was an active member of the community, in the service of education as a member of the consultative committee on French language education, and of health care as a Director of the Board of Saint Joseph’s Hospital. He was a strong advocate and activist in the cause of establishing a French language high school and of a new, amalgamated hospital for North Bay.
The family will receive relatives and friends at McGuinty Funeral Home, North Bay, on July 18 at 10 am. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at the funeral home.
