Alderson, Douglas

(1937-2014) Doug passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 17th, 2014 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 77 years. Predeceased by his wife Diane Burns, a son Douglas Jr., brothers  Jim, Ross, Russell, Gord, Everette, Chester, Lou and sisters Florence and Eva. He will be sadly missed by his companion Shirley Hele. He was the loving father to Debra Pigeon (Brian Hodgson) and Richard (Julie).  Also survived by his grandchildren Jimmy, John Pigeon and Cody and Ashley Alderson.  Dear brother of Vera Moore and Jean Hudson.  Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd.,  on Sunday December  21st  from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 pm. Funeral service Monday December 22nd at the funeral home at  11 am.  Doug loved spending time with his family & friends, especially the friends that he & Shirley made at the Franklin Trailer Park. Doug loved music & dancing and enjoyed the company of his friends at the Callander Legion. Doug was an avid gardener and would often say he felt closest to God when his hands were working with the earth of his garden & flowers. Special thanks to the Nursing staff of the NBRHC – critical care unit, in particular Diana. Donations to the Callander Legion in memory of Doug will be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
