Quaye, Comrade Eugene Laverne (Verne)

Posted

(Aug 19, 1922 - Oct 25, 2014) - It is with great sorrow that the family of Verne Quaye announce his passing in his 93rd year.  This his last journey, will take him to heaven to be reunited with his wife loving wife Madelaine (nee Ferlatte), his parents Henry and Laura, his  brothers Henry, Stanley, Robert, William and his sister Laura. A World War II Veteran, Verne always wore his Callander Legion Branch 445 jacket and crest with great pride. Verne was not able to communicate easily and those that knew him will surely miss his sense of humour and his gentle easy going and loving nature. Vern will be sadly missed by his niece Betty Ann Wutzke, and her family, his daughter in law Wilma Quaye and his two grandchildren Trevor and Lisa. Verne's family would like to especially thank Murielle Boissonneault of Blue Sky Personal Support Workers. Verne considered Murielle his special Angel. Murielle provided daily comfort and support to Verne and went above and beyond her required duties. Murielle's face was one that Verne always recognized and he would always have a  big smile saved just for her. Verne was always appreciative of the nice things that people did for him and would show his appreciation by giving back a quick wink, a smile, a hug, or blow them a kiss. Verne's family is grateful to Frances McParland of Blue Sky Personal Support Workers for her guidance and support during this emotional and difficult time. During Vern's last years he resided at Nipissing Manor in Callander. The amazing nursing staff and management of Nipissing Manor were always caring and professional and provided outstanding care to Verne. Thanks so much for that exceptional care. In accordance with Verne's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation arrangements entrusted to HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES. Internment will follow at a later date. Donations to the Legion Poppy Fund as expressions of sympathy will be much appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.hillsidefuneral.ca
