Gatenby, Kathleen Gertrude (nee Brady)

Posted

Surrounded by love with her daughter Marianne and granddaughter Natalie by her side, Kathleen passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday July 13th, 2014. One day before her 99th birthday, Kae chose to go and celebrate with the love of her life Jim, her beloved and devoted husband of over 60 years. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Gordon Richard Brady & Helen Clara Greenwood, and her husband James (2004). She is survived by her daughter Marianne Gatenby, her daughter Barbara Delorme, granddaughter Natalie Henderson & her daughter Sara, and grandson Adam Delorme (Jessica) and their son Liam. Kae and Jim were married at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on October 4th, 1943, and spent the next 60 years happily together. They loved to travel, including several trips to Europe and a most memorable cruise up the coast to Alaska. Kae remembered them fondly and spoke of them often. She was an avid bridge player for close to 70 years. She loved sitting on her verandah, and spending time at the cottage she and Jim built themselves over 60 years ago. Special thanks to her good friend Linda Davies, and Para med PSWs Chantal and Mercedes, who helped make staying in her own home possible, the home she was born in and loved living in her entire life. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her by her warm, radiant spirit. Always the lady, she overflowed with grace and dignity. Visitation will be held at McGuinty Funeral Home on Cassells Street on Wed. July 16th from 5-8pm, Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Thursday, July 17th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
