He was the oldest son of Pearl & Stanley Hewitt of New Liskeard. Mike received his elementary & secondary education in New Liskeard and then went to York University where he obtained his B.A. in Economics, followed by an M.B.A.  Simultaneously Mike received his Chartered Accountant Designation. From 1974 – 1978 Mike was an Assistant Professor at Laurentian University in the School of Business. Mike enjoyed his work at the hospital until December 2003, when he retired to work for his church, Community of Christ. He served as a Bishop from Jan. 2004 – Sept. 2013 when he retired. Church work was his truest passion following the love of his family. Mike also received a Masters of Christian Ministry from Graceland University. Mike married Linda (Wickett) Hewitt on August 29, 1970. Together they raised six children James, Alisa (Pat), Karen (Mike), Jeff (Tracey), Jordan, Jessica (Eduardo). Mike loved his children and did whatever he could to help them develop into wonderful adults. He loved his grandchildren too. Cheyenne, Seth & Lakai were his pride & joy and he was so looking forward to the birth of a new grandchild. Unfortunately he passed away 2 days before Benjamin’s birth. Also survived by a brother David (Barb), and a sister Kathy (Jim Bucci). Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather & friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
