PC Energy Critic and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli wrote to Premier-Designate Kathleen Wynne requesting a meeting on Ontario Northland today.

“I am eager to hear what she has to say about the future of the ONTC, and what role she envisions Ontario Northland playing in the development of the Ring of Fire,” Fedeli said.

However, Fedeli is concerned Wynne has not publicly spoken about a possible role for the ONTC when it comes to the Ring of Fire, or the New Deal for Ontario Northland proposal.”

“In a report today, she talks about the importance of the ferrochrome smelter in Capreol, but nowhere is there mention of the ONTC as being among her Northern priorities,” Fedeli said (Sudbury Star, Jan. 28, 2012)

I’m very worried that the first 48 hours under the new premier are looking a lot like the last nine years under Dalton McGuinty,” Fedeli said.

Fedeli also wants to discuss the Liberals’ deeply flawed energy policy, and offer solutions to ensure skyrocketing hydro rates don’t result in even more bleeding of jobs and investment from Ontario.

“We have 13 paths in our Affordable Energy white paper, and I’m eager to hear her thoughts on them,” Fedeli said.

The Ontario PC believe affordable energy is the cornerstone of economic growth, and will treat it as such.”
