Stinky, scared and excitable are just of few words one could use to describe the motley crew of dirty dogs that showed up for the Widdifield Lions Club 3rd Annual Charity Dog Wash Sunday.

Wrapping up their two week fundraising effort, the washing team was ready for any and all the sizes and characters that showed up to support the ‘Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides’ (LFCDG).

Event organizer and club spokesperson Melanie Pigeau says the dog guide service is vital for people living with special needs.

Guide dogs are often the eyes, ears, and limbs for people living with disabilities.

It costs about $25,000 to fully train and place a guide dog into a new home and without events like the dog wash to raise vital funds, many individuals would cease to live independently.

“These dog guides help these people in every way possible from getting around to going to school,” she says.

Pigeau thanks the community for their tremendous support of the program.

She also notes that the team is hanging up the hoses for another year, but people can continue to support the program throughout the year by visiting: https://www.purinawalkfordogguides.com/
