Local men charged in home invasion

Two local men have been charged by the OPP after a home invasion in Redbridge Sunday morning. Police are looking for two other suspects.

Police are looking for two other suspects.

In a news release this afternoon, police say they have charged:

Daniel Theriault, 28, of North Bay:

  • Robbery Using Firearm,
  • Break, Enter dwelling house - commit indictable offence and with
  • Disguise with Intent 

Scott Guindon, 33, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Robbery Using Firearm, and with
  • Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence

The home invasion occurred at a home on Songis Road in Redbridge at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday.

Police say an elderly couple live there.

Three men wearing a disguise and believed to be armed broke into the home while the owners were asleep before leaving after stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. 

A short time later, the suspect vehicle was stopped in the city of North Bay on Carmichael Drive by North Bay Police where the driver was arrested. 

The three passengers fled the vehicle; one of the suspects was arrested a short distance away near the hospital on the air base, while the two other suspects remained at large. 

An extensive ground search was conducted without success with the assistance of the NBPS and Military Police and several OPP resources.

Investigation into the two outstanding suspects continues but police are not releasing their names.

The home owners were not injured during the incident.
