The North Bay goalie, who played for the rival Oshawa Generals is sharing the Memorial Cup with North Bay and area hockey fans today.

In a humorous twist, North Bay police put Kenny and the Cup in jail, and told him he was charged with theft.

Appleby will be released in time to share the Cup with North Bay at the ACT picnic area near the government dock from 11 a.m. to noon.

Appleby was arguably one of the best goaltenders in the entire Canadian Hockey League in the 2014-15 season.

Appleby not only backstopped his Oshawa Generals to an Ontario Hockey League Championship, but he also helped lead the Generals to a Mastercard Memorial Cup Championship over the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets.

The 6' 4", 205-pound goaltender finished the 2014-15 regular season in Oshawa with a 38-7-4 record, a 2.08 goals-against average, a .924 save-percentage, and six shutouts in 50 games played. In the 2015 playoffs, Appleby continued to shine with a 16-4-1 record, a 2.24 goals-against, a .922 save-percentage, and two shutouts.
