Updated: name released Moose collision kills local man

Police say the driver, Robert Bailey, a 43 year old man from North Bay, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bailey leaves a wife and three children.

Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police are saying that last night, at about 9:00 p.m. they responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Papineau-Cameron Township.

Police investigation revealed that a vehicle was westbound on the highway when it collided with a moose. 

The driver, a 43 year old male from North Bay, was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

A member of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team assisted with the investigation.
