Earlier this week we told you about a six year old that noticed her letter carrier still delivering on Clarence street, despite a scorching sun and humidex levels in the mid 30's.

She left cold bottled water outside, and a note to "help yourself".

Now we'd like to introduce you to the youngster behind the thoughtfulness, Annie Boal, a grade two student at St. Alexanders.

"I saw the mail carrier walking down the street and she looked hot so I gave her a cold bottle of water. I felt good," Annie told BayToday with a smile.

Annie's mother, Amy Sheppard-Boal, wasn't surprised.

"Annie has a very big heart. We're very proud of her. We think it's really important for people to think about others and we're very proud that our children do that. When our kids think about how other people are feeling we think it is a really important feeling for them to have. When they feel good about helping someone, that's very important.

"Annie thought of this herself. She saw the mail carrier and it was during the heat wave in July, the first heat wave of the summer, and she asked if we could give her something to drink."

Letter carrier Janice Philion a 32 year veteran of the post office was impressed. "I thought it was amazing. I've never seen it before and it almost brought tears to my eyes. I had goose bumps."

Annie's brother Jackson is the same. Earlier in the day he had seen a meter reader and ran a bottle of water out to him as well.

The meter reader was very appreciative.

"He rolled it on his forehead and on his neck and said 'thank you', it was nice," said Amy.

Janice very very impressed with Annie's thoughtfulness, and left her this note.
