Country fans may lose their dog, have cheatin' wives/husbands and find their truck broken down but they love their music, and it showed big-time last night.

Thunderstorms caused numerous delays to the Summer in the Park music lineup, but through it all the fans stayed and braved the elements until the man they came to see --- Johnny Reid --- took to the stage past 10 o'clock.

"The crowd was amazing," chair John Strang told BayToday. "They were standing in the rain, some since three o'clock and Reid didn't disappoint."

"We were close to calling it, but decided to give the fans what they came for."

Reid started his set in the rain, but about 20 minutes in, the rain stopped and the country star played for about 90 minutes.

Organizers put Reid on first, then Michelle Wright played an acoustic set.

Strang says the committee was given the go ahead to exceed the noise bylaw time limit, and told "not to worry about it"

Tonight's headliner is Canadian rock legend Burton Cummings.
