History repeated Friday night as a thunderstorm and rain washed away country music fan's hopes to see some of their favourite acts.

The storm, which rolled in around 5 p.m. caused organizers to push back the gate opening from 6 to 7 p.m., but even when the gates opened around 8:30, rain kept performers from the stage.

Chair John Strang told BayToday that for safety sake, nothing could start until at least half an hour after the last sighting of lightning.

After the storm failed to clear, the first two acts, Gravitas and Autumn Hill, were cancelled while organizers hoped Michelle Wright could take the stage at 9 p.m.followed by Johnny Reid.

That didn't happen, and as 10 o'clock came and went, fans still hadn't heard a single note.

Saturday's lineup contains Burton Cummings, Alan Frew of Glass Tiger, Stone the Radio, and Kings of our Kin.

The weather forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of an early evening thunderstorm, but clearing by 8 p.m. and temperatures around 18.

Midway rides sit empty Friday night as weather kept riders at home. Asked how business was going, one employee replied "It sucks".
