Near North District School Board trustee, and former chair Kathy Hewitt passed away suddenly yesterday.
Hewitt passed away in her home. She was in her 77th year.
"We are in shock. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kathy's family. She was dedicated to education and kids," present board chair David Thompson told BayToday.
Family will receive friends at the Martyn Funeral Home tomorrow from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Friday in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Cremation will take place at Forest Lawn Crematorium.
Beloved wife of the late Leonard Hewitt. Cherished mother of Michael (Anita Paquin), Jeffrey (Cynthia Mantle), Patricia Burton (Sam Scarfone), Karen Groulx (Richard) and Kevin (Nicole) . Proud grandmother of Adam, Carolyn, Brady, Jackson, Christopher and Candace, great-grandmother of Elijah. Kathy will be sadly missed by her 10 siblings, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kathy dedicated her passion and energy to her family, creative pursuits, and furthering public education through her many years as a school board trustee.
