Who will win locally in October's federal election?

The next federal election is fast approaching --- October 19 --- so just three months away. A couple of weeks ago we asked which party you'd support if the election was held today. See results here: http://www.baytoday.ca/content/poll/results.

Now we're interested in how you feel about the local candidates. So far four hopefuls are running, three of course, will lose.

But who will win?

The veterans --- incumbent Conservative Jay Aspin, former MP and Liberal Anthony Rota? How about the NDP's first-timer Kat Jodouin, or Green's Nicole Peltier. The Libertarian candidate was Derek Elliott, but he's moved to the Philippines. No replacement has been announced.

So give us your opinion.

Our last poll asked "Would you agree to a tax increase if it were used to hire more police?"

By a large majority --- 83% --- you voted NO.

This contrasts sharply with a recent North Bay City Police poll done by Oracle which suggest that 64% of those surveyed support a tax increase if it means hiring more police officers.
