City crews have shut down a portion of Chippewa Street near Memorial Gardens after a water main burst around 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The break, which witnesses say sent water spewing into the air, happened in an area of Chippewa Street that was recently paved.

City officials say the break will take 4 to 6 hours to repair and as a result, Chippewa between Wyid and Ferguson will be closed in both directions.
