Man faces charges for assaulting police

North Bay Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male at the North Bay waterfront on Friday. Police spoke to the suspect who verbally identified himself with a name that police later learned was false.

North Bay Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male at the North Bay waterfront on Friday. Police spoke to the suspect who verbally identified himself with a name that police later learned was false. As he was deemed not to be a danger to himself or others, police sent him on his way.

North Bay Police later observed him drinking what appeared to be alcohol while he was walking downtown. When police attempted to speak to him again, the suspect fled the scene to a Main Street East apartment, where police arrested him.

During the process of placing him in the police cruiser, Police allege the accused assaulted two officers.

As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police charged Brandon Koster, age 19, of Verner, Ontario with:
• one count of obstruct police;
• two counts of assault police;
• three counts of breach of probation; and
• one count of breach of recognizance.

The accused was held in custody for a W.A.S.H. (weekends and statutory holidays) court hearing on Saturday.
