Over 180 guests attended last night's Kiwanis Citizen of the Year dinner in recognition of long time North Bay business person and community supporter John Richardson.

Club President Tim Hutchison noted that John’s name will always be synonymous with the Laurentian Ski Hill, developing the Northern Ski Racers coaching program and the community waterfront bench project.

This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Citizen of the Year dinner in North Bay, as well as the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis, so the club felt it was appropriate to recognize someone who was both a strong community supporter and also a long time member of Kiwanis.

Guest speakers were Mayor Al McDonald, John C Hopper, Lachlan McLachlan and Rick Sapinski.

This is also the first time Kiwanis has recognized a citizen of the year posthumously and family members David Richardson, Cathy Richardson and Judy Richardson accept the honour on their fathers berhalf.
