A phone call at just the right time saved a woman from further violence by her partner.
Police say that sometime between noon and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, a man physically assaulted and made threats to his female partner in their North Bay home.
But then a phone call distracted her attacker, and she was able to escape the home and flag down a passing motorist for help.
The driver called police. Both remained in the vehicle until police arrived.
Police arrested and charged a 54-year old North Bay man with:
- One count of assault; and
- One count of utter threats.
The accused, whose name police will not release in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for bail.
