Ontario PC Finance Critic and Nipissing M.P.P. Vic Fedeli released his “Focus on Finance 2” book earlier this week, which highlights the persistent pattern of Liberal number-fudging and deception.
The release came on a day the legislature prepared to debate an Opposition Day motion on the 2015 Budget.
“From understating the cost of the gas plant scandal and smart meters, to missing their revenue targets by half-a-billion dollars in the Fall Economic Statement, the Liberals time and time again have been dishonest with Ontarians about the state of the province’s finances,” said Fedeli in a release.
“We’re hoping Kathleen Wynne is finally going to listen to the credit rating agencies, the Auditor General, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Federation of Independent Business and other experts who are urging her to change course.”
Fedeli said the Liberals could signal that willingness by supporting today’s Opposition Day motion, which summarizes the five Ontario PC caucus budget asks – not the least of which is a serious, credible and detailed plan to balance the budget by 2017-18.
“Focus on Finance 2 explains in great detail how Premier Wynne has failed to produce such a plan since coming to office,” said Fedeli, noting she still hasn’t provided detailed line items for 2017-18, the year Ontario’s books are supposed to be balanced.
“We hope tomorrow’s budget will show that she’s finally going to listen to the experts and change the direction that Ontario’s finances are currently heading in,” said Fedeli.
Fedeli got was a guest on CP24 earlier this week talking about the book.
