Another hydro rate increase coming up

"Life in Ontario will become even more unaffordable, especially in the North, when hydro rates go up again on May 1," Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

"Life in Ontario will become even more unaffordable, especially in the North, when hydro rates go up again on May 1," Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has announced the peak rate for hydro will go up 15 per cent to 16.1 cents per kilowatt-hour.

"That's now approaching four times what it was when the Liberals took office in 2003," Fedeli stated.

For someone with 800 kilowatts of usage per month, the OEB estimates this will mean an increase of nearly $6 on a monthly bill.

“At every single turn, the Liberals find ways to increase the cost of hydro, making Ontario less competitive and deterring badly needed investment and job creation.  They continue to take this province in the wrong direction,” Fedeli added.
