Hydro One reports that 33 outages have occurred in areas south of North Bay around the Almaguin Highlands.
Almost 10,200 customers have been affected.
The latest estimated restoration: 4 p.m.
Near North Chair David Thompson says on his Facebook page that "several schools in the Near North District School Board have been affected by a regional loss of power as reported by Hydro One. These schools include Almaguin Highlands Secondary School and Sundridge Centennial, M.A. Wittick, Magnetawan, Land of Lakes public schools. Schools remain open today and students have been safely accommodated to areas of natural light.
"Parents are welcome to pick up their children if possible, however buses will depart at the end of the day on their usual routes to return remaining students home."
