Fraudster targets local daycare providers

North Bay Police are alerting local daycare centres and home daycare providers to be vigilant when accepting cheques or money orders for reserved childcare services by mail.

North Bay Police are alerting local daycare centres and home daycare providers to be vigilant when accepting cheques or money orders for reserved childcare services by mail.

Following an investigation into a complaint regarding numerous emails sent to a local daycare, North Bay Police report that the person who sent them is a suspected fraudster.

The scam is being conducted by a person who identifies himself as Cleve James Frosh and uses the account [email protected].

The person claims to be a single dad on vacation in Mexico and thus unable to book childcare services for his son in person or by phone.

He then proceeded to send a fraudulent money order to the daycare provider to reserve his child’s spot for a number of months, only to ask the recipient to return a portion of the funds sent when he claims he cannot make it for the beginning of the reservation.
