Two men face charges related to trafficking marijuana

On Thursday March 26th at approximately 5:00 p.m.

On Thursday March 26th at approximately 5:00 p.m., following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime Unit, police observed a suspected drug transaction take place between two men in a vehicle in a parking lot on Seymour Street.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged Shane Michael Vanamburg, age 36, of Corbeil with:

  • one count of trafficking marijuana under 3 kg;
  • one count of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking
  • one count of property obtained by crime.

He was held in custody overnight for a bail hearing on Friday. 

Police also arrested and charged André Réjean Côté, age 41, of Redbridge with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 5th, 2015.

After the arrests, police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at  Vanamburg's Corbeil residence on Thursday evening. 

As a result of this investigation and search, police seized 17.5 pounds (approx. 8 kg) of suspected cannabis marijuana with an approximate street value of $120,000, as well as a vehicle, with approximate value of $35,000, as offence-related property.
