Two face charges for trafficking cocaine and prescription pills

Two local people face drug charges after a drug bust this weekend.

A search warrant was issued for an apartment on Beattie Street in North Bay on Saturday by the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime unit.

Police arrested and charged Michael Gordon Swaine, age 48, of North Bay and Sherri Larondeau, age 45, of Callander.

Both were charged with:

  • Three counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking;
  • One count of possession of controlled substance;
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police seized the following:

  • 144g of suspected cocaine;
  • 198 suspected Oxycodone pills (each 5 mg);
  • 16  suspected Oxycodone pills (each 80 mg);
  • 17  suspected Morphine pills (each 200 mg);
  • Three suspected Hydromorphone pills (each 100 mg);
  • One 30 mg suspected Hydromorphone pill;
  • One 50 mg suspected Fentanyl patch; and
  • Over $5,000 in Canadian currency.

The total street value of the combined drugs seized is estimated at $20,000.
