L’Odyssee is the top local high school in the Fraser Institute’s 2015 ranking of schools, and sits 133rd in the province out of 740 schools ranked.
Ferris Glen is the top elementary school.
"As much as we are very proud to have been recognized by the Fraser Institute as 1st in the rankings for secondary schools in the Nipissing District, we are also conscious of the fact that this represents a snapshot and that there are many factors involved," Principal Paul Séguin told BayToday.
"Through the lens of the Fraser Institute, we find that they tend to simplify the achievement process and therefore miss the full sense of what is involved in the development of student success. École secondaire publique Odyssée focuses on the full development of their students in order to get her or him ready for the real world and all the challenges that these youth will face in coming years either in a post-secondary setting or the work world.
"Odyssée focuses heartily on student well-being and their global development. Students thrive in a positive setting and that in turn, that they will succeed academincally. As much as these results are static, they are proof that our winning strategies are working, supporting the fact that we have been ranked 1st, five times in the past nine years."
