Extreme cold warnings have been issued for areas just south of North Bay, but the city won't escape an icy blast.

Current details:
A period of very cold wind chills is expected. A frigid arctic airmass will combine with light to moderate winds to produce wind chill values between minus 35 and minus 40 overnight and early Friday morning.
While Environment Canada has not yet officially issued an extreme warning for North Bay, it will be extremely cold tonight with winds up to 15 km/h.
The low of minus 27 will give us a wind chill of minus 33.
Friday, while sunny will also be very cold. Wind up to 15 km/h and a high of just minus 13 will give us a wind chill during the day of minus 34.
Meanwhile the city's warming centre will be open both nights.
