Morning collision claims one life

OPP report that one man is dead after an accident on highway 63. Yesterday morning at approximately 9:50 police responded to a collision on Highway 63, Jocko Township.

Yesterday morning at approximately 9:50 police responded to a collision on Highway 63, Jocko Township. 

Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered that the driver of a southbound pick-up entered into the northbound lane striking a log truck and then collided with a northbound propane truck before coming to rest in the southbound ditch.

The driver of the pick-up had to be extricated from his vehicle by Phelps Township and North Bay City Fire Department.

The driver of the pick-up, Peter Watson, age 68 of Eldee, Ontario, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to hospital.

Members of the Technical Traffic Collision Investigations (TTCI) unit attended the scene to assist in the investigation.

The highway was closed for approximately nine hours.
