Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement issued for:

  • North Bay - West Nipissing,
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity,
  • New Liskeard - Temagami,

Current details: Poor winter driving conditions in snow from an Alberta clipper today.

An Alberta clipper sailing across Northeastern Ontario will bring a general snowfall to all regions today.

Total snowfall amounts will range from 5 to 10 centimetres over southwestern sections, with 10 to possibly 15 expected over a swath of regions extending from Kapuskasing through Timmins and Cochrane to North Bay.

These snowfall amounts are generally below the warning criterion of 15 cm per 12 hours. Expect a high of minus 4.

Poor winter driving conditions from low visibility, and snow covered roads are expected. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination.

The clipper will sail into Quebec this evening, taking the snow with it. In the wake of the clipper, stiff northerly winds will usher in considerably colder air from the Arctic tonight, with wind chills of minus 30 or below expected in many areas overnight.
