Two North Bay people face charges of manslaughter and and criminal negligence in the death of a 34 year old man in January of this year.

After an ongoing investigation by the Investigative Support Section of the North Bay Police Service and the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, charges of Manslaughter and Criminal Negligence Causing Death have been laid against David Santos, age 35, and Sarah Beaudoin, age 27, both of North Bay.

The charges relate to the death of a 34-year old male on January 31st, 2014 and the subsequent police and coroner’s investigation.

On March 4th, Beaudoin was charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in relation to the same death.

The post-mortem examination conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathologist Service under direction of the Coroner provided further evidence relating to the cause of death resulting in the additional charges.

This Wednesday, both accused people were notified of the additional charges.

Sarah Beaudoin faces one count of Manslaughter, one count of Criminal Negligence Causing Death, one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and one count of Breach of Undertaking.

David Santos faces one count of Manslaughter, one count of Criminal Negligence Causing Death and one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.

Both accused persons are in custody pending bail hearings.
