Northern drug bust

OPP say a drug bust has taken $80,000 of drugs off the street with several people being charged. The charges stem from a traffic stop yesterday on Highway 17 in Plummer Additional Township.

The charges stem from a traffic stop yesterday on Highway 17 in Plummer Additional Township.

It culminated with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search warrant at a home in Bruce Mines, about a hour east of Sault Ste. Marie.

Police used the search warrant to seize cocaine with an approximate street value of $39,000, cannabis oil $820, cannabis resin $3,000, marijuana $34,500, money and drug paraphernalia.

The total estimated street value of the drug seized is approximately $80,000.

Police charged Daniel Archie Laplante, 53, Blind River with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marijuana - under 30 grams

  •  Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

Allan Robert Stobie, 45, Bruce Mines 

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking -over 3 kg
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking- under 3 kg

A 46 year old female of Bruce Mines and a 47 year old man of Sault Ste-Marie were also arrested and later released.

Members of the North East Region Canine and North East Region Emergency Response Team, were joined by East Algoma OPP, East Algoma Crime Unit and Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit.
