Three impaired charges in one week

Bad week for drinking and driving. On December 12, at a R.I.D.E. checkpoint on Highway 531 in Bonfield, police checked the status of an approaching driver.

On December 12, at a R.I.D.E. checkpoint on Highway 531 in Bonfield, police checked the status of an approaching driver.   

Investigation resulted in a charge of "Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol", against Daniel Sarafinchin, 51, of Bonfield.  

Then on December 15, at approximately 2:07 a.m., a checkpoint on Highway 11 in North Bay, stopped a vehicle with no headlights on.

The driver of the vehicle, Kory Benoit-James, 26, of North Bay, was charged with numerous offences; including 

  • Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Cannabis Marijuana Under 30 grams
  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Novice Driver –Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero
  • Class G1 Licence Holder - Unaccompanied By Qualified Driver
  • Fail to Comply With Probation Order 

On December 16, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Powassan OPP were investigating a report of a disturbance in the town.

Upon arrival police were told that one of the people involved in the incident had left the scene. 

Eldon Storie, 48, of Powassan was located in his vehicle at his home.

  • Care or Control While Impaired
  • Cause a Disturbance
