Canadore College's Aviation program received a tremendous learning tool on Thursday morning.

In the Aviation Campus hangar, the growing local college unveiled a Bell Helicopter air frame which was donated to the school during the late morning ceremony.

"We support education in the helicopter industy and that's why we are here today," said Bell Helicopter Regional Sales Manager (North America) Richard Airlie during the Thursday morning press conference at the Canadore Aviation Campus.

"Bell products are used for critical life saving missions such as this 430, all over the world, and we are honoured to support Canadore College with the donation of this Bell 430 air frame to help prepare students for a future career in the aviation industry."

Canadore President George Burton believes the specialized airframe will provide students in Canadore’s School of Aviation Technology with hands-on training through demonstration and simulation.

“We are extremely thankful and fortunate to have a long-standing partner like Bell Helicopter, who understands the vital role that donations play in training the workforce of the future,” said Burton in a release.

“This contribution adds to our current fleet, and will allow our students to cross-train on a variety of equipment, which prepares them to successfully integrate into the aviation industry.”

The Bell 430 airframe will be used as a part of Canadore’s world-class Avionics program, one of the College’s eight full-time aviation-driven programs.

Last month Canadore College announced an expansion to its dedicated Aviation Technology Campus with the addition of its Advanced Composites Fabrication, Repair and Test Centre (ARC-TC) facility which will have the ability to support innovative research.
