With a crisp December night, the crowds were out to see Santa pull into the Station in North Bay Tuesday.

Santa was riding the front engine of the Ontario Northland Christmas Train. Hundreds of children waiting for him were waving and calling out.

After the train came to a full stop, Santa went to his big chair to hear the wishes of a huge line of children with their parents.

There was hot chocolate and coffee, and carolling by the King George choir. Hockey fans were climbing aboard the Battalions bus and other kids lined up to board a fire truck.

Everyone was in good cheer, Josh Dale included. Dale is the supervisor of car maintenance at Ontario Northland Railway. He's also the organizer who makes the Ontario Northland’s Christmas Train a success. Dale estimated about 800 people came out last year. This year could top that.

"Our crew puts up the lights and decorations. It takes about two and a half weeks to put it all together. “

"Tomorrow night, we'll be in Temagami. We'll expect about 200 to 300 people waiting for Santa there. Then we will be going up to Cobalt, and stopping all along the line, all the way up to Moosonee.”
