OPP say they are laying more charge for drunk driving over the past month.

In 2013, between September 4 and November 4, North Bay OPP laid nine charges of impaired driving.

This year, over the same time period, they laid 14 charges of impaired driving.

Eleven of these impaired driving charges resulted from driving complaints called in by concerned citizens.

Men make up the bulk of the charges.

There were 12 male and 2 female drivers charged.

Ages of these drivers ranged from 20 to 70 and blood alcohol readings ranged from 88 milligrams to 290 milligrams.

Some were caught as early as 7:30 a.m.

Police say drinking and driving is an offence which leads to severe consequences such as loss of driver’s licence, paying a large fine, increased insurance costs, and acquiring a criminal record.
