Here's a lesson for all of us when stopped by police---leave your window down!

OPP stopped a car Monday night on Highway 69 in Carling Township because of an improper number plate light.

While speaking to the driver, the officer saw marijuana in plain view and asked the driver to get out of the vehicle.

Instead, the female driver put the window up and locked the doors.

The officer was unable to convince the driver to get out, and was forced to break the window to arrest her.

Laura Shilliday, 33 years of age from Howland Township, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act
  • Resisting a Peace Officer
  • Improper number plate light
