The MTO is doing a review of area highway maintenance after complaints about the level of service after last night's weather.
Icy roads were reported to BayToday from readers who drove on both highway 11 and 63.
Transfield Services, which is contracted to maintain the highways would not comment, but referred us the the ministry of transportation.
"We're 100% full winter maintenance right now," MTO's Mark Fetterly told BayToday.
"We're doing a review of all of our highways right now because we had complaints about highway 11 south. I haven't got a complaint yet about 63 yet but we're going to review all our highways."
"It usually takes a few days. There's quite a lot of information to prepare, but when I get calls or complaints we look at it harder than we usually do, so I have my co-ordinators and myself working on it as we speak."
Fetterly says there are standards that Transfield has to meet.
"You've got to deploy the plows within 2.5 cm of snow and for freezing rain you've got to have salting operations in place half an hour after the winter event."
"They (Transfield) have patrolmen on 24 hours a day, seven days a week and they have access to weather reports and they're looking at that stuff all the time."
Meanwhile Fetterly says the MTO is working with Transfield on a website called "Where's my plow?" that motorists would be able to access.
"We're going to try it this winter internally, but I don't know if it will be available to the public this year," he said.
