Domestic violence investigation involves OPP officer

Following an investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) into a domestic violence complaint, an East Algoma OPP officer was arrested and charged on Friday, October 31.

Following an investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) into a domestic violence complaint, an East Algoma OPP officer was arrested and charged on Friday, October 31.

The 49 year-old female Provincial Constable has been charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.

The officer is a 13-year member with the OPP and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 2.

As with all domestic related incidents, the OPP does not release the name of the charged person to protect the privacy of victims of domestic violence.
