News Release

******************

I am very reluctant at this late date prior to Monday’s Powassan Election to be undertaking this step re information sharing that can be very critical to our future health care plans for possibly the next ten years. However I feel that since my whole purpose for becoming involved as a potential councillor in this election is to provide honest, purposeful service with integrity to our community that I must in all conscience make this release.

Part of the responsibility I am attempting to undertake is to stand up and be counted in difficult situations in the next four years and today I am meeting that test with the following statement and further comments:

To that end I declare that I will fully support if elected the current Family Health Team Plan which has been approved by the Ministry of Health to build a New Health Care facility in the town of Powassan to enhance and provide medical services which are so badly need by all of us in the community and especially the growing seniors population which will be increasing dramatically in the next ten years as the baby boomers age and require more and more health related services.

This plan and it’s related funding component which has been approved by the Ministry for this service cannot nor should be jeopardized by what amounts to the current climate of an election campaign.

To that end I am also putting forward to all participants of this upcoming election the challenge of stepping up to the plate and declaring their support for this program or demonstrating with concrete evidence an alternate plan which is approved with funding in place for a comparable service.

I respectfully submit that any or all participants who are unwilling to make this commitment to our community are not prepared for the challenges at present or that lay ahead in the next four years.
I fully understand the risk involved in making these statements however I believe that we must support fully the responsibility to serve our community’s best interests in the name of democracy whether or not the decision is popular and one of unanimity
