OPP officer charged in collision

An OPP officer has been charged in that Highway 17 West collision Wednesday in Beaucage Township.

An OPP officer has been charged in that  Highway 17 West collision Wednesday in Beaucage Township.

The accident, just west of the lookout closed the highway for about four hours

Police say that a fully marked cruiser was parked on the westbound shoulder of the highway and proceeded to enter the westbound lane colliding with a westbound vehicle, Nissan Rogue. 

The driver and passenger of the Nissan as well as the officer were transported to West Nipissing hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Provincial Constable Robin Camirand, an eight year member of the North Bay OPP Detachment was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for the offence of "Start from Stopped Position-Not in Safety".

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) assisted with the investigation.
