Pool at CFB North Bay remains closed

The pool at CFB North Bay is closed until further notice.

The pool at CFB North Bay is closed until further notice.

Aquatic program registrations were initially postponed on Monday, but on Tuesday a press release indicated the pool will be closed until further notice due to unexpected delays in construction.

The press release states that 22 Wing Construction Engineering is in the process of replacing the large scale dehumidification units at the base pool.

"Although the existing system was semi-functional, the deterioration of the units and ducts made it increasingly difficult to meet indoor air quality standards and operate the pool. Work by Construction Engineering also determined there was no reliable interim solution that could keep the pool open. As a result the pool will have to remain closed until completion of the project," stated Community Recreation and Facility Coordinator Derek Callahan in the release.

"This is a regrettable inconvenience to 22 Wing personnel and families. Trust that every attempt was made to minimize the impact to the Wing. Unfortunately, there is never a good time to replace vital building systems. Once installed, the new and improved system will provide a more pleasant swimming environment to the 22 Wing family for years to come," he added in the release.

Anyone interested in more information about the delay is asked to contact the Community Recreation Coordinator at (705) 494-2011 ext. 2613.
