Council candidate count hits nine

The number of candidates running for city council has increased to nine with the addition of James Savard.

The number of candidates running for city council has increased to nine with the addition of James Savard.

Savard has served for four years as councillor in the Township of Bonfield where he chaired the Planning Advisory Committee and was a lead contributor to the Township’s new Official plan and Zoning Bylaw.

He also is chair of the Township’s Personnel Committee and Vice Chair of Public Works and Fire and First Response Committee.

He served as Deputy Mayor in 2012.

Savard is a businessman with experience in technology, marketing and e-business.

He donates his time and resources as an executive member of the Knights of Columbus and serving on the executive branch of the Foster Parents Association as Treasurer.

“I’ve enjoyed the last four years and look forward to a possible new challenge in North Bay for the next four years. I’ll bring a combination of unique experience and enthusiasm that will make me a valuable asset to the Council and the community.
